I am the Executive Branch Economist for the State of Nevada, where I lead economic research and forecasting to inform critical public policy decisions. My role includes analyzing key economic indicators, developing tax revenue forecasts, and providing insights into the economic health of the state.
I recently completed my Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Nevada, Reno, with a focus on Behavioral Finance and Macroeconomics. My research explores the dynamics of asset allocation and belief formation related to financial outcomes. I also specialize in machine learning applications for detecting abnormal behavior in large datasets.
My professional experience spans research, teaching, and consulting. As a Research Assistant for the Department of Mining Engineering, I conducted technoeconomic analyses for a water desalination facility, as part of a grant project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). At Riivos, I designed financial models to assess real-time impacts on Free Cash Flow, NPV, and capital spending, identifying $120 million in operational improvement opportunities for clients. I also have a strong teaching background, having delivered courses in economic history, statistics, and monetary policy.
I am fluent in both Spanish and English, and proficient in Python, Stata, Tableau, SQL, and Microsoft Office. I am on the job market for 2024.
